A Solution of Richards’ Equation by Generalized Finite Differences for Stationary Flow in a Dam

چکیده

The accurate description of the flow water in porous media is greatest importance due to its numerous applications several areas (groundwater, soil mechanics, etc.). nonlinear Richards equation often used as governing that describes this phenomenon and a large number research studies aimed solve it numerically. However, nonlinearity constitutive expressions for permeability, remains challenging modeling problem. In paper, stationary form Richards’ saturated soils solved by two numerical methods: generalized finite differences, an emerging method has been successfully applied transient case, element method, benchmarking. solution both cases handled using Newtonian iteration. comparative results show difference iteration yields satisfactory standard test problem with singularity at boundary.
